We love New Year’s resolutions. They represent our inherent desire to move forward in our lives in a positive way. We possess instinctual behaviors to grow. Because of our desire and curiosity we started by reaching out to touch something, then we crawled to approach it, we then stood up and walked towards it. We learned to handle it, move it, manipulate it and conquer it. We still continue to move forward in different ways. Here is a long list of popular resolutions that promote a step forward. Just reading this list can inspire us to take control and move towards a more well being.
Resolve to…..feel better, breath better, laugh more, love more, reduce stress, remember better, sleep more, have better boundaries, be stronger, walk further, not be co-dependent, meditate more, spend less, pray more, read more, stretch in the mornings, drink 8 glasses of water a day, put money into savings every month, be less critical, have more grace for people, not be negative, create solutions for my problems, drive slower, plan my menus on Saturdays, reconnect with old friends, take walks for meetings instead of meet in restaurants, take vitamins, eat more fiber, eat less sugar, reduce caffeine, try a new recipe, pick up a new hobby, clean the garage, give away unwanted items, get out of debt, work on core strength, get my back fixed, work on my posture, reduce soda, get a massage, plan a trip, redo my bedroom, find new friends, go hiking, get help for an addiction, walk a 5K,take more time off, get my bike fixed, go skiing, stop eating after 7 p.m., read my Bible, learn a new language, go to be earlier, balance my check book, stop texting while driving, buy all spectrum lights, be more positive, reconcile a broken relationship, take a class, journal my foods, clean my car.
One single resolution either in a specific form or a more general form can be a great thing. We don’t care if you only try it for 10 minutes or if it lasts for a week. You are not a failure for trying to taking control and make decisions towards the betterment of your life. To want to feel good and live a full life is ok and you deserve it. So go ahead pick one and call it your own. Be well, feel well and commit yourself to a life of joy! Happy New Year from Pacific Nutrition and Wellness
