Super excited that since my first Pre-op appointment i have lost almost 30 pounds. I am so disappointed that all the protein supplements are too sweet, and they use aspartame or sucralose as the sweetening agent. I know, I sound like a broken record.

another day
Submitted by lorik on Tue, 06/30/2009 - 6:15am.I am doing better finding different things to eat - and i'm adding the unflavored protein poweder to almost everything. It definitely gives soups a foamier consistency, but i can get it down better than the other sweet protein supplements i've tried.
I've ordered some samples of some other concentrated liquid protein supplements that i think i could put in my water and lessen the sweetness factor that way.
One month until the gastric sleeve!
Submitted by Lois Doody on Sat, 06/27/2009 - 5:59pm.Hi all
I have just returned home to Pitt Meadows after having my lapband removed. I had this tool for 7 years and lost about 70 pounds with it. I had a very rough journey with it and now I am looking forward to the gastric sleeve operation on July 24th.
Is there anyone who has had the sleeve who could give me some insight into what to expect post op?
thanks so much
Lois
trying new things -- feeling more hungry
Submitted by lorik on Sat, 06/27/2009 - 10:47am.I'm trying a few new things today to boost my protein intake and still be able to get my fluids in. I have added some of the unflavored protein powder to my water - doesn't taste great, and i'd really prefer plain water, but i know i need more protein and i'm determined to get enough.
It's a struggle to not drink just before, during and after eatting - i am just so accustomed to drinking water constantly that i really have to STOP and think about it. I find myself watching the clock!
1 week post op
Submitted by lorik on Thu, 06/25/2009 - 8:20am.I am now one week post op and feeling pretty well. I am finding it ia bit challenging to get enough calories and protein on the liquid diet.
I find that most of the sources of liquid protein are so sweet in taste that they make me want to gag - i don't really care for sweets in general and the reaction seems enhanced since surgery. I'm sure I have not been taking in enough.
BIB participant
Submitted by abwiggins81 on Sat, 06/06/2009 - 7:51am.Hi everyone, I am sure we have all passed each other in an office appointment! I am in week 9 and so far have lost "16lbs", that is according to my start with the balloon; I have truly lost 21lbs according to my scales highest weight. I have to say this is not the magic pill, quick fix or the cheaters way. I can overeat my balloon, I can stuff just as many calories as I used to in there, but I don't. True, I feel full faster but I am the one choosing the right foods to fill up on. Oh and the exercise thing!

Hello
Submitted by Jen Campbell on Thu, 05/14/2009 - 2:00pm.Hi fellow bloggers, Great job getting this blog started. I am so excited for you to receive this support during the BIB study. If any of you decide to meet in person, a public park (now that the weather is better) or your local library often allows you reserve a room for free to meet. Looking forward to seeing you all soon.
